Lucknow: Tensions have escalated in Uttar Pradesh following blasphemy allegations against two leaders of the Hindu nationalist group Bajrang Dal. The accused, identified as Sanjay Mishra and Vivek Mishra, are alleged to have made derogatory remarks about the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during a public meeting in the Pilibhit area, sparking outrage among the local Muslim community.
According to Kashmir Media Service, this incident marks the second time this week that members of Hindu extremist groups have been accused of actions offensive to Muslims in India. The formal complaint was filed by Afzal Khan, detailing the event that occurred on October 13 in Madhotanda town.
Local police confirmed that a case has been lodged against the two Bajrang Dal leaders. “It has been alleged in the complaint that during the meeting, the Bajrang Dal leaders Sanjay Mishra and Vivek Mishra delivered speeches that were perceived as inflammatory and offensive to the Muslim community,” stated Circle Officer Puranpur Vishal Chaudhary.
The incident led to a gathering of the Muslim community in Madhotanda to protest the derogatory remarks. Local authorities quickly intervened, calming the protesters with assurances of thorough investigation and appropriate action.
