Guwahati, October 02, 2023 (PPI-OT): Indian authorities have extended black law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act for six more months in four districts of Assam in India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the authorities said the ‘disturbed area’ law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has been extended in four districts of the state for six more months.
“From Sunday, four districts Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Sivasagar and Charaideo in Assam will have AFSPA,” said DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh.
The black law, AFSPA empowers Indian army and paramilitary forces, police personnel and agencies to conduct operations and arrest anyone without any prior warrant, besides giving immunity from arrest and prosecution to the forces if they shoot someone dead.
Meanwhile, the Kannada film actor Nagabhushan SS has been arrested as a speeding car allegedly driven by him rammed into a couple, killing a 48-year-old woman in Bengaluru city, the police said.
