New Delhi, January 10, 2023 (PPI-OT):Congress President, Mallikarjun Kharge, has said that Bharatiya Janata Party’s “use, discard and betray” policy is responsible for the plight of the Kashmiri Pandit employees in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Mallikarjun Kharge in a tweet, today, said the Kashmiri Pandit employees have been protesting for over 245+ days, demanding their ‘right to life’ and ‘relocation’. He said, their salaries are being withheld for months and their security is being compromised, he said.
“BJP’s ‘use, discard and betray’ policy is responsible for their plight,” he said. A Kashmiri Pandit employee, Rahul Bhat, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen inside his office at Chadoora in Badgam district of IIOJK in May last year. The killing had sparked off protests by the Kashmiri Pandit employees who refused to return to work. A group of protesting employees had also left the Valley and demonstrated in Jammu, demanding that they be relocated outside the Kashmir Valley till the situation improved there.
Although the BJP-led administration in IIOJK agreed to look into most of the demands of the Kashmiri Pandits, it refused to relocate them out of the Kashmir Valley. It even hardened its stand against the protesting employees and stopped salaries of those who did not return to work. However, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Pandurang Kundbarao Pole, claimed last week that a majority of Kashmiri Pandit employees have returned to work.
