Patna, May 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):In a latest episode of hate speech, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Member of Bihar Legislative Assembly, Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul, has said that the Muslims should be set ablaze just as Hindus burn Ravana effigies during the festival of Dussehra.

The BJP leader talking to reporters said, just like Ravana’s Lanka was burnt by Hanuman, the demon-like Ravanas, who are hovering over Bihar and the country, should also be burnt. When asked where the ‘Ravanas’ in Bihar are, Bachaul said, “You go and see what is happening in Kishanganj, what’s happening in Purnia, Araria, Jokihat”.

The Kishanganj, Araria, Purnia and Katihar districts from Bihar are part of the Seemanchal region, which has a 47% Muslim population. Thakur was talking about the Muslims and Muslim populated regions of Bihar. The BJP MLA from Bisfi in Madhubani district of Bihar is known for making hate speeches. Three months ago, he had said that Muslims living in India should be stripped of voting rights and treated as second class citizens.

Several members of the opposition parties including the President of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi in the Bihar assembly had protested against his anti-Muslim statement and demanded his suspension.
