Chennai: Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami, a prominent leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and MLA from Kulgam, has expressed doubts regarding the Modi government’s intentions to reinstate statehood to Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In an interview with a local news agency in Tamil Nadu, Tarigami highlighted the recent resolution adopted at the 24th party congress of the CPI(M), which calls for the restoration of statehood to IIOJK. He emphasized that this move should be viewed as a crucial step towards restoring the region’s special status.
Tarigami also pointed out the BJP’s dissatisfaction with the electoral outcomes in IIOJK. He questioned which astrologer the residents of IIOJK could consult to predict when statehood would eventually be restored.
These comments by Tarigami underscore the ongoing political discourse surrounding the status of IIOJK and the broader implications for the region’s governance and autonomy.
