Nagpur, October 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suffered a severe setback in the panchayat elections in the Nagpur district of the Indian state of Maharashtra, which is considered the stronghold of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The BJP has not won even one of the 13 panchayat committee chairperson seats in Nagpur, while Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, which is part of the state government, could win only one seat.
In the elections, the Congress has won nine seats while the Nationalist Congress Party won three seats. This is being considered as a major blow not only for the BJP but also for Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s factional Shiv Sena Party. This failure of BJP is well discussed on social media platforms. Some posts have appeared in which the downfall of the BJP is attributed to its wrong political policies.
