BJP regime puts Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest

Srinagar, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has put senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest at his residence for the eighth consecutive week.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Anjuman Auqaf of the Jamia Masjid in a statement issued in Srinagar said the police authorities, today, again closed gates of the mosque and are not allowing people to enter the mosque for Juma prayers.

It deplored that for the eighth consecutive week, Juma prayers were not being allowed at the historic mosque in Srinagar.

The Anjuman Auqaf denounced the repeated closure of the Jamia Masjid and house detention of its chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and termed it frustration of the occupation authorities.

Meanwhile, religious leader Agha Syed Mohammad Hadi has been detained and denied to lead congregational prayers at Imambargah Ayatollah Agha Syed Yousuf in Bemina, Srinagar.
