BJP MLA’s car attacked by mob in UP

Lucknow, August 15, 2021 (PPI-OT): In India, a BJP MLA’s car was attacked in Uttar Pradesh (UP). The car was attacked in Muzaffarnagar area of western Uttar Pradesh by people, protesting the Modi’s contentious farm laws. Umesh Malik, the MLA from Budhana of Uttar Pradesh, was attending an event in Sisauli village, the home turf of farmer leader Rakesh Tikait when mud and black paint was thrown at his car.

 

The windscreens of the car were also smashed. Police said the incident took place when the MLA reached the village for a programme. The MLA was rescued by policemen on the spot, they said. The farmers have been protesting the Modi government’s farm laws since last year, saying the reforms will hurt their incomes and promote a corporate takeover of the agricultural market. Thousands of farmers have been protesting at Delhi borders.
