New Delhi: Raja Singh, a BJP MLA known for his strident Hindutva stance, has sparked controversy by alleging a new form of anti-Muslim conspiracy he calls ‘Thook Jihad,’ accusing Muslims of contaminating food products in Hyderabad.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Singh claims ‘Thook Jihad’ involves Muslim vendors purportedly spitting on their goods before selling them, a theory that has fueled communal tensions. In a video making rounds online, Singh can be heard urging the Telangana government to adopt laws similar to those proposed in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, requiring vendors to display the name of the shop owner to prevent this alleged practice.
“In Uttar Pradesh, during the Kanwar Yatra, shops are mandated to display the name of their owners to ensure purity of the food being sold,” Singh stated, referencing orders from UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that were recently halted by the Supreme Court. The court’s decision to stay the directive highlights the ongoing legal and ethical debates surrounding such policies.
Raja Singh’s history of inflammatory remarks against Muslims includes various speeches that have escalated communal discord, with several of his statements going viral on social media and drawing criticism for inciting hatred.
