New Delhi, April 11, 2023 (PPI-OT):Members of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have made a demand for the establishment of a “Hindu Rashtra” and for action to be taken against individuals involved in “love jihad”, the term used by Hindu extremists against the Muslims who marry Hindu women. The demand was made by the members of BJP and Hindutva organization United Hindu Front during a “panchayat” meeting held in Northeast Delhi’s Karawal Nagar. Jai Bhagwan Goyal, who is a member of the BJP and also serves as the United Hindu Front international working president, declared to the attendees that their objective is to convert Northeast Delhi into the first district of a Hindu nation or “Hindu Rashtra.” He said, “Our aim is to make Northeast Delhi the first ever Hindu Rashtra district.”

Goyal stated that the goal of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is to make India a Hindu Rashtra before the organization’s centenary celebration in 2025. Jai Bhagwan Goyal also urged the residents of Karawal Nagar to avoid selling their houses and conducting business with members of the Muslim community. The meeting was attended by several notable figures, including former Indian Minister Dr Satyanarayan Jatiya and BJP member Ram Avtar Gupta. Towards the end of the event, the attendees took an oath after which they were given a “Jai Hindu Rashtra” badge to wear on their chest.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Joy Tirkey stated that the organizers of the event have been booked for hold the gathering without obtaining permission. When questioned about the alleged hate speech made during the event, DCP Turkey responded that it is currently being investigated. He said, “The alleged hate speech is part of the investigation. As of now, we have registered a case against the organizers for flouting the rules.”
