BJP leader booked for flouting COVID lockdown

Hyderabad, June 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):Telangana police in India booked a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader for flouting COVID-19 lockdown rules. As per M Narayana, Superintendent of Police (SP), Vikarabad, in Telangana a local BJP leader organised a dance party on the occasion of his granddaughter’s birthday on the intervening night of June 11 and June 12 and a case was registered on June 13 in the matter.

“A transgender dance was organised on intervening night of June 11 and June 12 and a case was registered on Monday against the responsible person under sections 188, 290, 269 of Indian Penal Code, 51 (B) of Disaster Management Act, section 3 of Epidemic Disease Act, and section 34 (a) and 15(4) of TS Excuse Act 1968,” the SP said.

The case was filed after the video of the incident was posted on social media. Keeping in view the number of COVID cases in some districts of the state, Telangana has extended COVID-induced lockdown for another till June 19.
