BJP Government Criticized for Targeting Muslim Teachers in Rajasthan

Jaipur, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Rajasthan has come under scrutiny for its recent actions against Muslim teachers in the state, sparking allegations of religious bias in educational institutions. The government’s measures, including the suspension of two teachers and the initiation of disciplinary action against another in Kota district, have intensified religious tensions and drawn criticism from various quarters.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the actions taken by the state’s Education Minister Madan Dilawar were prompted by allegations from the Hindutva communal organization, Sarva Hindu Samaj. The group accused the teachers of coercing students into forced religious rituals and affiliating with the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI). They also raised concerns over a case involving the alleged abduction of a Hindu girl, citing administrative failures in maintaining school records and ensuring student safety.

The Chief District Education Officer, reportedly acting without verification, issued suspension orders for teachers Firoz Khan and Mirza Mujahid and initiated disciplinary proceedings against teacher Shabana. These actions have been met with strong condemnation from teachers’ representative bodies, which criticized the government for bypassing departmental inquiries and procedural norms in executing the suspensions.

Amin Kayamkhani, president of the Rajasthan Urdu Teachers Association, denounced the suspensions as arbitrary and stressed the importance of conducting thorough investigations before imposing punitive measures. He emphasized the necessity of adhering to established service rules when addressing such sensitive allegations.

Mohammad Nazimuddin, president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind-Rajasthan, also condemned the BJP government’s measures, viewing them as part of a wider political strategy to target Muslim individuals for electoral benefits. He has called for the reinstatement of the affected teachers and demanded impartial investigations into the charges levied against them.

The controversy highlights the ongoing tensions within Rajasthan’s educational sector and raises concerns over the treatment of minority teachers in the state’s political and social climate.
