New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) allegedly orchestrated raids on at least 33 corporate companies utilizing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax (IT) department to extract INR 335 crore in donations, according to a report by Newslaundry, an independent Indian media organization.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, the report suggests that these companies were coerced through notices alleging financial irregularities, pressuring them into making donations as a means to avoid further legal action.
Critics have labeled the alleged scheme as “political extortion,” with opposition leaders condemning the BJP for purportedly using investigative agencies to amass funds for electoral purposes.
Social media has been rife with reactions, as users accuse the Modi government of operating a “Vasooli Racket” rather than a legitimate administration. The allegations have sparked concerns over the potential misuse of law enforcement agencies for political and financial leverage.
The BJP has yet to respond to these serious accusations, while opposition parties are calling for an independent investigation into the matter.
