BJP Accused of Eroding Muslim Identity in Kashmir

Islamabad: A new report released by Kashmir Media Service today accuses the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of systematically working to disempower Muslims and erode their cultural and religious identity in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

According to Kashmir Media Service, the report claims that under the RSS/BJP regime, there has been a concerted effort to transform the region’s Muslim majority into a Hindu majority through various policies and actions. These include instructing Muslim shopkeepers to stop selling meat, promoting Hindu pilgrimages while restricting Muslim festivals, and establishing wine shops in predominantly Muslim areas to undermine community standards.

The report also highlights the imposition of Hindu symbols and traditions in public life and educational settings, with Muslim students reportedly being forced to sing Hindu hymns. Additionally, the BJP’s takeover of religious sites and the Waqf Board is seen as a move to suppress the political and cultural influence of Kashmiri Muslims.

This campaign, the report argues, is part of a broader agenda to reconfigure Kashmir’s demographic and cultural landscape in favor of Hindutva ideology, threatening the region’s rich Islamic heritage.
