BISP Expands Support, Aiding Over 9.3 Million Families and Launching New Savings Scheme

Islamabad: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is currently providing financial aid to more than 9.3 million families across the country, aiming to support the needy with respect and dignity. This initiative is part of a broader effort to alleviate poverty and boost education and health through various targeted programs.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the BISP is distributing 10,500 rupees per quarter to impoverished women under the Benazir Kafalat Programme. Starting next year, this amount will be increased to 13,500 rupees to further aid the beneficiaries. In addition to financial assistance, the BISP has successfully enrolled 7.3 million children in schools through the Benazir Taleemi Wazaif Programme and has provided nutritional support to two million mothers and children via the Benazir Nashonuma Programme.

The BISP has also introduced a Savings Scheme in its pilot phase, which has already encouraged 150,000 participants to start saving. The scheme promises to contribute an additional forty percent to the gross savings collected, which will be paid out quarterly to help build the financial stability of the participants.

Moreover, over 7,000 women have benefited from BISP’s digital and financial literacy training to date, enhancing their skills and economic opportunities. To increase accessibility, BISP has deployed 25 mobile registration vans in the remote regions of Sindh and Balochistan, facilitating the enrollment of more individuals in need.

This comprehensive approach not only addresses immediate financial needs but also focuses on long-term developmental goals through education and health support, thereby laying a foundation for sustainable growth among the underprivileged populations of Pakistan.
