Islamabad: Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid emphasized the program’s foundational goal of empowering impoverished women in Pakistan, in line with the vision of the late Ms. Benazir Bhutto. This commitment was reiterated during a meeting with Senator Abdul Shakur Khan Achakzai, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency and resolving staffing shortages that affect service delivery.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Chairperson Khalid discussed the logistical challenges in the BISP’s implementation, particularly the understaffing in Qila Abdullah and Chaman districts, which has led to difficulties for beneficiaries. She assured improvements in staffing and operational capacity to better serve the program’s recipients.
The discussion also touched on the recent improvements in the BISP’s payment system, which now involves six banks to ensure transparency and efficiency in fund disbursement. Khalid highlighted the implementation of fixed payment campsites where BISP staff monitor and promptly address disbursement issues, further enhancing the program’s effectiveness and accountability.
This meeting underscores the ongoing efforts to refine and expand the impact of the Benazir Income Support Program, ensuring it continues to serve as a crucial support system for the country’s needy women.
