BISP and JazzCash Collaborate to Advance Digital Empowerment for Women Beneficiaries

Islamabad: In a significant step towards enhancing financial and digital inclusion, the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has partnered with JazzCash. This collaboration aims to equip BISP’s women beneficiaries with smartphones, thereby fostering greater transparency and empowerment. The initiative was detailed in a meeting between BISP Chairperson, Senator Rubina Khalid, and key representatives from JazzCash, including Ibrar Khan, Vice President Corporate Affairs, and Ali Naseer, Chief Strategic Officer.

According to Press Information Department, the primary focus of the meeting was to discuss strategies for the digital empowerment of BISP beneficiaries. Senator Khalid emphasized the importance of adhering to the directives from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, which mandate that BISP payments are made with transparency and respect. She highlighted that providing smartphones to beneficiaries is crucial for ensuring they are fully informed of their rights and reducing potential fraud risks.

The Chairperson further underscored BISP’s commitment to not only providing financial support but also enhancing the quality of life for its beneficiaries through market-driven skill training that aligns with current employment opportunities. During the discussions, the JazzCash team outlined potential initiatives that could support this vision. Senator Khalid concluded by urging JazzCash to develop a detailed plan for the implementation of these digital tools.

This collaboration represents a strategic effort to leverage technology for social welfare, aiming to create a more informed and empowered beneficiary base within Pakistan’s largest social safety net program.
