Karachi: Today, the Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, visited the Hunar Foundation’s Head Office, meeting with its CEO, Mr. Tahir Javed. Their discussions focused on enhancing skills training for deserving families to align with global market demands.
According to Press Information Department, Mr. Javed briefed Senator Khalid on the foundation’s array of short courses and skill development programs. Senator Khalid underscored the potential benefits of BISP and Hunar Foundation working together to provide training that would help individuals secure both local and international employment, thus improving their economic status. She emphasized the transformative impact of equipping underprivileged children with technical skills to achieve self-reliance and contribute to national economic growth. The need for internationally recognized certifications and the inclusion of work ethics in training curricula were also highlighted. Furthermore, Senator Khalid reaffirmed BISP’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations, noting that 9.3 million families currently benefit from the program, with projections to reach 10 million.
