Bishkek, Pakistan is set to assume a leading role in the regional diplomatic arena as it prepares to take on the Chair of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) this Thursday in Bishkek.
According to a news release by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani will spearhead the Pakistani delegation at the twenty-second Meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government. The significant summit will see participation from top-tier leadership of member countries, including the Heads of Government from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Additionally, the Vice-President of Iran, Foreign Ministers of both Pakistan and India, as well as representatives from SCO Observer States such as Belarus and Mongolia, will be in attendance. The meeting will also welcome Turkmenistan as a Guest State.
The Council of Heads of Government stands as the second highest forum within the SCO, dedicating its efforts predominantly to deliberations on economy, finance, commerce, and broader socio-economic collaboration.
