Biogas Plant Initiative Gains Momentum in Lahore with Government Support


Lahore: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Haroon Akhtar Khan, paid a visit to the proposed biogas plant site of Suzuki Company Limited in Manga Mandi, Lahore today. The visit underscored the government’s commitment to promoting clean energy solutions in Pakistan.



Mr. Khan was received by Hiroshi Kawamura, Managing Director of Suzuki Company Limited Pakistan. The visit highlighted the collaboration between the government and private sector to establish a biogas plant aimed at fueling vehicles, a project considered vital for Pakistan’s energy landscape.



Mr. Khan emphasized the importance of biogas as a pivotal component of the country’s energy strategy, which aims to lessen reliance on costly oil and LNG imports. He reiterated the Prime Minister’s “Uraan Vision,” which focuses on sustainable energy sources as a means to drive economic benefits for local farmers and contribute to environmental protection.



During his visit, Mr. Khan urged stakeholders to expedite the implementation of the biogas project, citing its environmental and economic advantages. Suzuki representatives assured that vehicles could continue to use petrol if biogas were unavailable, ensuring flexibility in fuel options.



The government has expressed full support for initiatives that aim to reduce carbon emissions and transition towards greener energy solutions, aligning with global trends in sustainable energy development.
