Bengaluru, September 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):The police in the Indian city of Bengaluru have booked 14 members of Indian Muslim organization, the Popular Front of India (PFI), on the charges of sedition.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the action comes a day after Indian agencies including National Investigation Agency arrested over 100 members of PFI after raiding offices of the organization and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) across India.
In a statement, the Bengaluru City police said these 14 people were booked at Kadugondanahalli police station under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including that on waging a war against India. While two persons were from Bengaluru, the remaining 12 are from various parts of Karnataka. They will be produced before a magistrate, the police said.
It is to mention here that as many as 106 activists of PFI were arrested on Thursday in early morning raids by various agencies including NIA, Enforcement Directorate and police in around ten states, for purported charges of supporting terror activities. In a massive crackdown on PFI, the NIA carried out raids in states including Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
