Kolkata, June 20, 2022 (PPI-OT):India’s Bengal Assembly has passed a resolution condemning the blasphemous statement of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nupur Sharma. Reports said the BJP leaders started the protest while the West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, was addressing the assembly. Mamata Banerjee said, “We took action when there was violence in the state but how come this woman (Nopur Sharma) has not been arrested yet?
“I know she will not be arrested. She has asked the Kolkata police for four weeks. She was supposed to appear before the police today but she did not appear,” the chief minister said. It is to be noted that Naupur Sharma has requested an extension of 4 more weeks to appear before the Kolkata Police due to the risks to his life posed by his controversial remarks.
