Benazir Income Support Programme Enhances Direct Fund Transfers to Women

Chilas: Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), announced new measures to transfer funds directly to the bank accounts of deserving women, as directed by President Asif Ali Zardari. The initiative is designed to simplify access to funds, ensuring transparency and dignity for the recipients.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Senator Khalid articulated these enhancements while addressing the media at the BISP office in Chilas. She underscored the motive behind her visit—to engage directly with beneficiaries and tackle the hurdles they face, including unauthorized deductions and mistreatment. The BISP has responded by setting up a modern call center equipped with a helpline to handle complaints.

During her visit, Senator Khalid also shed light on several key programs aimed at empowering women economically and socially. These include the Benazir Kafaalat, Taleemi Wazaif, and Nashonuma programs, along with the newly launched Benazir Skill Training Program, which is intended to improve life quality and economic contributions of the women and their families.

The Senator’s visit concluded with personal interactions with several beneficiaries, ensuring their immediate concerns were addressed by the BISP staff.
