Belarus Offers Support for Electric Buses in Islamabad

Islamabad: In a move to enhance mutual cooperation in the realm of public transportation, Aleksei Kushnarenko, the Belarusian Deputy Minister for Industries, visited the headquarters of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad. The visit was aimed at discussing the integration of eco-friendly transport solutions in the city, specifically focusing on the deployment of electric buses.

According to Capital Development Authority, the Belarusian Deputy Minister was welcomed by Talat Mehmood Gondal, Member Administration at CDA, and was joined by the Deputy Director General of the Islamabad Public Transport Wing. During the meeting, Kushnarenko expressed Belarus’s willingness to support Islamabad in adopting electric buses, a proposal that aligns with CDA’s vision for a more sustainable and efficient public transport system.

The discussions underscored the potential for transferring advanced technology related to electric buses and their charging stations to Pakistan. This initiative is part of a broader effort by the CDA to reduce the environmental impact of public transport in the capital city and to modernize its infrastructure. Previously, CDA has already launched electric buses that cover various areas of Islamabad, contributing to a reduction in the city’s carbon emissions and enhancing the overall quality of urban transport.

Both parties expressed enthusiasm about the future of this green initiative and are looking forward to the implementation of the technologies discussed.
