Lahore, July 21, 2023 (PPI-OT): Inspector General Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has said that on the occasion of Muharram, strict arrangements have been made for the security of congregations, processions, Imambargahs and other religious places across the province. IG Punjab said that on the 1st of Muharram, 101 funeral processions, 3500 majalis were held across the province including Lahore, which included 14 A category funeral processions and 321 A category majalis. IG Punjab said that 403 Majlis were held in Lahore on 1st of Muharram and 10 funeral processions were held in which 46 Majlis of Category A were included.

Dr. Usman Anwar said that more than 200,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed for security during the tenth month of Muharram across the province. Usman Anwar further said that lady policemen have been appointed for the security and checking of women mourners while arrangements have been made under comprehensive strategy to maintain the flow of traffic across the province. Punjab Police is on high alert and performing its duties.
