Srinagar, A significant protest was organized in Baramulla district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, voicing opposition against the Narendra Modi government’s policies perceived as economically and politically oppressive to the Kashmiri people.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest, drawing residents from approximately five villages, took place in the Wagoora area, specifically targeting the issue of inflated electricity bills. Participants from Watergam Wagoora, Kawchak, Sheikhpora, Dardpora, Shirpora, and Harnar gathered outside the power department office at Watergam in Wagoora to express their frustration.
The demonstrators, while vocally protesting against the occupation authorities, highlighted the issue of receiving inflated electricity bills despite facing up to 20 hours of load shedding. Abdul Gaffar of Dardpora emphasized the community’s refusal to accept the unreasonable bills and urged the concerned department to rectify them.
Participants also voiced their plight of enduring unscheduled power cuts, often receiving electricity for less than four hours, yet being forced to pay high bills. The protesters warned of continuing their demonstration if the bills were not withdrawn.
