Islamabad: Mr. Sirajuddin Aziz, Banking Mohtasib Pakistan, met with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Justice Yahya Afridi, at the Supreme Court of Pakistan to discuss efforts to strengthen banking dispute resolution and reform initiatives within the banking sector. This meeting follows a high-level consultation led by the Chief Justice, as Chairman of the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan, aimed at identifying improvements in banking litigation efficiency and promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms.

According to Press Information Department, Mr. Aziz informed the Chief Justice about the institution’s efforts in resolving banking complaints, highlighting the disposal of 36,280 complaints in 2025, despite carrying over 13,793 complaints and receiving 35,130 new ones, leading to an 8% reduction in overall pendency. The Banking Mohtasib also reported that relief amounting to Rs. 1.87 billion was provided to banking customers, with the complaint redressal process being free of charge. The Chief Justice commended the Banking Mohtasib for effectively handling a large volume of cases and delivering significant customer relief.

Mr. Aziz reiterated the Banking Mohtasib’s dedication to enhancing banking dispute resolution through improved cooperation and the sharing of best practices. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to developing efficient, transparent, and citizen-focused mechanisms for banking dispute resolution and to enhancing institutional collaboration in support of broader justice sector reforms.
