Balochistan Ombudsman Issues Contempt Notice to Education Secretary for Non-Compliance

Quetta: Balochistan’s provincial ombudsman, Nazir Muhammad Baloch, has issued a contempt of court notice to the Education Secretary, Muhammad Saleh Nasir, for failing to implement judicial orders regarding various complaints against the education department. This notice demands the secretary to present an implementation report by September 24, 2024.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the provincial ombudsman had previously issued orders on several complaints aimed at the education department, requiring judgements to be executed based on merit. Despite these directives, the education department failed to act accordingly. Following the lack of response, further instructions were issued to the education secretary to adhere to the orders and submit a report on their implementation.

Despite receiving assurances from Muhammad Saleh Nasir, the education department’s compliance was inadequate, prompting the ombudsman to inform the Chief Secretary of Balochistan. The continued inaction and failure to submit any report on the matter led to the issuance of a contempt of court notice. The ombudsman expressed dissatisfaction with the education secretary’s behavior, underscoring the seriousness of the non-compliance by demanding his appearance with the required report next year.
