Quetta: In a concerted effort to tackle environmental pollution, Balochistan’s Forest Secretary Dostin Jamaldini announced a major tree planting initiative in Quetta. This announcement was made during a seminar on environmental protection, jointly organized by the Rotary Club of Quetta and the Forest Department of Balochistan, where new trees were also planted along Eidgah Toghi Road as part of the campaign.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Secretary Jamaldini stressed the crucial role of trees in improving air quality and overall environmental health. He emphasized the need for community involvement in planting and maintaining trees, urging citizens to recognize the direct benefits of greenery for urban areas. Deputy Commissioner Quetta, Lieutenant (Retired) Saad Bin Asad, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the inherent human connection to the environment and the urgent need to expand green spaces in pace with urban growth and population increases.
The government has set ambitious targets for tree planting in Quetta, aiming to significantly boost the city’s green coverage. Schools will also participate in this special campaign, which promises to make the city greener and reduce pollution. The event concluded with tree saplings being distributed to participants, symbolizing the joint commitment of the Forest Department and the Rotary Club to greening Quetta.
