Quetta: Provincial Irrigation Minister Mir Muhammad Sadiq Imrani expressed approval of President Asif Ali Zardari’s recent statements supporting the Kuchi Canal project and the broader Green Pakistan initiative, highlighting the federal commitment to agricultural development in Balochistan.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, President Zardari, in a meeting related to the Green Pakistan project, affirmed the federal government’s support for the timely completion of the Kuchi Canal, including funding and modernization efforts for the irrigation sector. The President also advocated for the concrete lining of strategic canals to enhance water conservation.
Minister Imrani relayed the President’s projections that the Kuchi Canal project would irrigate approximately 713,000 acres of land, boosting not only agriculture but also livestock and fisheries in the region. This development, he noted, was met with enthusiasm by the local population, underscoring a broader commitment by the People’s Party leadership, including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, to fulfill development pledges in Balochistan.
