Quetta: A comprehensive review and planning session for the Balochistan Medical Support Program was held recently, focusing on the achievements of the past three years and discussing expansion into more districts. The meeting, led by Secretary Health Balochistan Muhammad Saleh Baloch, included high-level officials and stakeholders who collaborated on future strategies to enhance healthcare facilities across the province.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting saw participation from a host of key figures including Balochistan Medical Support Program Representative P and D Arif Baloch, Chief Planning Officer Planning Cell Health Department Dr. Ghulam Mustafa, and others. They reviewed the program’s three-year implementation in seven of the province’s most backward districts, which involved providing essential medical equipment, footwear for children, and modern gynecological facilities.
The discussions highlighted the success of the program in areas previously lacking such services and deliberated on the proposed second phase which aims to include additional districts like Dera Bugti, Lasbela Sahabatpur Doab, and several others. This phase is expected to focus on expanding medical services to include treatments for cancer and mental health issues.
Further, the meeting addressed the need for continued support from donors and the provincial government to sustain and expand the program. Secretary Health Balochistan praised the program’s performance and underscored the critical health challenges facing the province which the Balochistan Medical Support Program aims to address through its future initiatives.
The session concluded with a call for increased funding and support to replicate the program’s success in other districts of Balochistan, ensuring broader access to modern health facilities for the province’s population.
