Quetta: Secretary of Information for the Government of Balochistan, Imran Khan, has announced a new initiative aimed at encouraging female students to engage more actively in both traditional and modern sports. This announcement was made at the inauguration of the Girls’ Throwball Coaching Camp, organized by the Balochistan Throwball Association.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Khan emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to provide opportunities for female students. The goal is to enable them to represent Balochistan at national and international sports competitions. The event was attended by key figures including Balochistan Throwball Secretary Naeem Akhtar, Technical Director Manzoor Ahmad Sarpara, and other officials and students from local schools and colleges.
The Secretary expressed concern over Balochistan’s current underrepresentation in sports and stressed the importance of equipping students with the facilities and training required to excel. He highlighted the significant potential among female students, evidenced by their keen interest in participating in the coaching camp, which saw attendees from eight schools and colleges.
The training camp, which started on August 27, will run for two days and aims to scout and prepare top performers for the provincial team, setting the stage for future national competitions. The initiative reflects a broader governmental push to enhance the province’s presence in sports, drawing from a decade of dominance in throwball within the province as celebrated by Technical Director Sarpara during his address at the event.
