Balochistan Health Secretary Reviews Hospital Performance, Emphasizes Comprehensive Healthcare Reforms

Quetta, The Health Department of Balochistan, under the leadership of Secretary Health Abdullah Khan, conducted an extensive online evaluation of the performance of Medical Superintendents (MS) across various districts. This meeting forms part of a broader initiative aimed at improving healthcare services throughout the province.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the session included discussions on several critical issues, including staff availability, the functionality of labor rooms, antenatal and postnatal care, drug supply, and immunization efforts. Secretary Khan outlined the supportive monitoring plan initiated in November 2023, designed to enhance service delivery in these priority areas. The plan mandates rigorous attendance for all medical and paramedical staff and calls for the assurance of essential services in secondary hospitals.

Efforts to boost healthcare provision were detailed by Additional Director MSD Dr. Ismail Mirwani, who spoke about capacity building within the Medical Supply Department and the improved processes for the procurement and distribution of medicines to enhance their availability at health facilities. The ongoing monitoring and evaluation efforts are crucial to this strategy, aiming to address gaps and ensure no compromise on the delivery of primary healthcare services.

The meeting underscored the Balochistan Health Department’s commitment to ensuring that all residents, especially vulnerable groups like pregnant women and new mothers, receive adequate healthcare. The department’s reform agenda prioritizes effective, quality medical care as a right for all, emphasizing the need for a strong primary healthcare system to alleviate the pressures on tertiary care facilities.
