Balochistan Government Initiates Comprehensive Plan to Modernize Police and Levies Forces

Quetta: The government of Balochistan has embarked on an ambitious plan to enhance the operational capabilities of its police and Levies forces, aiming for a modernized approach in tackling terrorism and other crimes. A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti concluded with significant decisions directed towards joint actions and immediate response protocols in the fight against crime and terrorism in the region.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting saw the presence of key officials including Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Interior Shahab Ali Shah, IG Police Balochistan Muazzam Jah Ansari, Director General Balochistan Levies Force Naseebullah Kakar, Commissioner Quetta Division Hamza Shafqat, and DIG Headquarters Qamarul Hasan. The briefing was conducted by the IG Police and the DG Levies, where strategies for a collaborative approach between the police and Levies were outlined.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti emphasized the urgency of enhancing the professional training of the Quick Response Team of the Levies Force to boost efficiency. He directed the IG Police to uphold merit and transparency by abolishing the culture of recommendations within the department. Moreover, Bugti underscored the necessity for the police and Levies to adopt proactive roles and respond swiftly to incidents, reinforcing the primary goal of restoring peace and enforcing the law in Balochistan.

The Chief Minister also paid tribute to the security forces’ personnel who have sacrificed their lives for peace in the region, asserting that the provincial government is committed to eradicating terrorism with the cooperation of the community and security forces. He expressed confidence in overcoming the challenges posed by terrorism, projecting a resolute stance against those undermining state security.

This initiative marks a significant step in Balochistan’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and enhance public safety through strategic reforms and capacity building among its security forces.
