Balochistan Government Cracks Down on Illegal Water Connections Ahead of Kharif Season

Naseerabad, The Balochistan government has initiated a significant crackdown on illegal water connections within the canal systems of the province, aiming to safeguard water rights ahead of the Kharif cropping season. This operation, discussed in a high-level meeting chaired by Provincial Irrigation Minister Mir Muhammad Sadiq Imrani, involves comprehensive measures to eliminate unauthorized water channels that threaten agricultural productivity.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting, which saw participation from various district officials and irrigation experts, outlined a detailed strategy for the grand operation against these illegal connections. Provincial Minister Imrani and Commissioner Naseerabad Division Tariq Qamar Baloch emphasized the urgency of this initiative, citing the need for robust measures before the monsoon rains.

The authorities plan to establish a joint action force comprising district administration and the irrigation department to conduct the operation, which will also address those who unlawally irrigate their lands through these connections. The government’s firm stance on enforcing the law reflects its commitment to ensuring equitable water distribution and enhancing the agricultural sector’s efficiency.
