Balochistan Food Authority Cracks Down on Food Safety Violations in Duki

Duki: The Balochistan Food Authority (BFA), in collaboration with the district administration, recently conducted a stringent enforcement drive against local food businesses, resulting in fines for multiple milk shops and bakeries found violating food safety standards. The initiative targeted establishments based on public complaints concerning food adulteration and substandard hygiene practices.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the BFA’s zonal inspection team utilized modern mobile laboratories to test samples of milk and yogurt from various milk shops and dairy farms. Findings from these tests led to punitive actions against ten milk vendors who were found adulterating milk with water and dry powder to artificially increase volume, alongside poor cleanliness standards in their operations.

Additionally, two bakeries were penalized for several infractions, including the use of newspapers for packing items, employing non-food grade colors, and handling expired chemicals. These bakeries also failed to display manufacturing and expiry dates on final products, and the personal hygiene of the staff was notably deficient. The authorities issued corrective notices for minor violations and license issues to several other food centers.

The enforcement actions also included the confiscation and destruction of harmful or expired products found during the inspections. These measures underscore the BFA’s commitment to enhancing food safety and public health standards across the region.
