Quetta: The Balochistan Food Authority has released a detailed report on its extensive actions against the supply of adulterated and unhealthy food throughout the province during June 2024.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the report outlines the outcomes of 1,446 inspections conducted at food and beverage centers and production units. Significant enforcement actions included the sealing of four units for severe violations of food safety standards and the imposition of fines totaling over 35 lakh rupees on 197 centers. Additionally, 373 food center owners received rectification notices for minor defects, and 43 food samples were sent to laboratories for quality analysis.
Director General Atiqullah Khan emphasized the continuous efforts to uphold food safety standards, stating that the authority’s vigilant monitoring from food preparation to delivery is crucial for protecting public health. The authority also focused on educating the public and food business operators about hygiene, proper food handling, and the risks associated with consuming defective products.
