Balochistan Chief Minister Reviews Godar Shipyard Plans Amid Revision Proposals

Quetta, Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, was briefed about developments at the Godar Shipyard, with discussions focusing on proposed revisions to the master plan and functional issues. The briefing included updates from provincial leaders and senior officials on the potential changes needed for the shipyard’s future operations.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the briefing was attended by several key figures including Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Mir Zahoor Bilidi, Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Noshirwani, and Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, among others. They discussed the site’s current status and the reasons prompting a review of the initial master plan. Chief Minister Bugti has requested a detailed comparative report to assess the need for revising the current plan, which initially established the shipyard in the Kapar area of Gwadar.

The Chief Minister expressed concerns over the initial assessments that led to the establishment of the shipyard in Kapar, questioning the necessity of a potential shift to Sarbandar. He highlighted that substantial investments and land acquisitions have already been made at the existing site. In light of these factors, he has called for a comprehensive report from the Commissioner of Makran Division to better understand the implications of any proposed changes.

The next meeting on the Godar Shipyard will determine the course of action based on these detailed reports, ensuring that any decisions on adjustments to the master plan will involve consultations with all stakeholders.
