Balochistan Chief Minister Demands Swift Completion of Mangi Dam Project

Quetta, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has called for an immediate acceleration in the completion of the Mangi Dam project, citing unacceptable delays that jeopardize water security for Quetta. In a high-level review meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the critical need for the dam, which is expected to significantly alleviate the city’s water shortage by supplying an additional 8.1 million gallons of water per day.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting included several key officials such as the Provincial Minister of Public Health Engineering Sardar Abdul Rahman Khetran, Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Noshirwani, and other senior officials. They reviewed the current progress of the dam, which currently contributes 2.4 million gallons of water daily to Quetta. The Chief Minister expressed his dissatisfaction with the pace of the project and issued a directive for the work to be expedited AS per a revised plan.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Bugti has initiated measures to ensure the project’s security and sustainability, including forming a committee to transition the dam’s power supply from electricity to solar energy, under the leadership of the Minister of Public Health Engineering.
