Balochistan Chief Minister Announces Enhanced Opportunities for Women and Marginalized Communities

Quetta: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has announced ongoing efforts focused on the development of policies aimed at enhancing opportunities for women, the transgender community, and other neglected sections of society within the province. During discussions with key advisors, the Chief Minister emphasized his commitment to including these groups more significantly in the decision-making process and ensuring their representation in legislative matters.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed these commitments while meeting with Dr. Rababa Khan Bilidi, Advisor for Women Development Department, and Fauzia Shaheen, Chairperson of the Commission on Status of Women Balochistan. The Chief Minister reiterated the importance of the Benazir Bhutto Scholarship, which provides special quotas for women, minorities, and transgender individuals, highlighting the government’s focus on educational empowerment.

Bugti has also ensured that women members are assigned important roles within the Balochistan Cabinet, reflecting his determination for their effective participation in governance. Furthermore, Dr. Rababa Khan Bilidi, recognized for her exceptional service, has been nominated for the Medal of Distinction, underscoring the value placed on skilled individuals in driving forward the region’s development agenda.

The Chief Minister also addressed legislative reforms, particularly concerning human rights issues such as child marriage. Dr. Bilidi has been tasked with leading the review and coordination efforts to foster consensus on these critical matters. Additionally, Mir Sarfraz Bugti has directed the immediate provision of essential reproductive health supplies to women prisoners, emphasizing the broader commitment to women’s health and empowerment.

This initiative underlines the government’s approach to building a knowledgeable society by focusing on the empowerment and representation of women in both economic and social spheres, thereby enhancing the overall developmental trajectory of Balochistan.
