Quetta: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti chaired a provincial cabinet meeting that resulted in several key decisions, including the approval of new environmental and agricultural policies and the allocation of funds for public health initiatives. The meeting also paid tribute to the late Sardar Sarfraz Chakar Domki and included prayers for his forgiveness.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the cabinet formulated important forest-related laws and approved regulations to combat environmental pollution. The Balochistan Organic Agriculture Policy 2024 was also green-lighted, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals to mitigate hazardous agricultural practices. Further, funds were released to support the Prime Minister’s program to eliminate Hepatitis C in the province.
A special committee under the Provincial Health Minister’s chairmanship was established to advance cardiology services on modern lines and to explore public-private partnerships for new medical institutions, mirroring successful models in Sindh. Additionally, the cabinet endorsed Balochistan’s first digital social media policy, aimed at fostering a positive framework for social media use, and gave initial approval to the Balochistan Probation and Parole Service Draft Bill 2024. It also directed further review and a comprehensive report on the Hub Master Plan.
Chief Minister Bugti emphasized the provincial government’s commitment to addressing long-standing public issues, urging cabinet members to actively engage in their constituencies, especially in interior Balochistan, to hasten improvements in public services.
