Bajrang Dal Activists Assault Dalit Professor in Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati: A Dalit professor was brutally assaulted by Bajrang Dal activists in Andhra Pradesh for his advocacy of social justice and Dalit rights.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the attack occurred on the campus of Sri Venkateswara University in Tirupati, where a group of Bajrang Dal activists confronted Prof. Ch. Changaiah, Dean of the Department of Electrical Engineering. The activists questioned the professor about his stance on Dalit rights, leading to a verbal dispute that escalated into a violent assault.

As reported by India Today, Prof. Changaiah was severely beaten by the attackers, drawing widespread condemnation and highlighting the increasing threats faced by Dalit activists who speak out for equality and justice. This assault marks the second such attack on a Dalit individual in the past week. In Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district, 27-year-old Narad Jatav was beaten to death by a local sarpanch and his family for using a common hand pump to fetch water in Indragarh village. Jatav succumbed to injuries inflicted by the sarpanch, Padma Singh Dhakad, and his family, who used sticks and rubber pipes during the assault.

Both incidents reflect the ongoing challenges faced by Dalit communities in India, where violence and discrimination continue to be pervasive against them.
