Islamabad: A high-level Bahraini parliamentary delegation, led by Ahmed Bin Salman Al Musallam, President of the Council of Representatives, visited Islamabad on a special invitation from Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation.
According to a statement by National Assembly of Pakistan, the meeting focused on the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Bahrain, emphasizing shared religious, cultural, and historical values. Speaker Sadiq highlighted the mutual efforts of both nations in promoting regional stability and economic growth.
Speaker Sadiq expressed gratitude for the respect Pakistanis receive in Bahrain, noting the special privileges, including dual nationality, granted to Pakistani expatriates. He invited President Al Musallam to visit Pakistan next year to further strengthen ties.
The discussions also centered on opportunities for deeper collaboration in investment, trade, tourism, and IT sectors. Speaker Sadiq underscored the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in bringing nations closer.
President Al Musallam expressed his appreciation for the hospitality and reaffirmed the strong bond between the two nations. He assured support in digitizing Pakistan’s parliamentary system and suggested doubling the current trade volume of $800 million.
Second Deputy Speaker Ahmed Abdulwahed Qarata reiterated the close ties between Bahrain and Pakistan, focusing on future collaborations in tourism, energy, and trade. A Bahraini MP praised Pakistan’s progress in empowering women, noting extensive opportunities available for them.
The Bahraini delegation included prominent members of parliament and the Bahraini Ambassador to Pakistan, reflecting the commitment to strengthening diplomatic and parliamentary relations.
