Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Meets with Newspaper Industry Leaders to Address Financial Concerns

Muzaffarabad, Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar Haq met with leaders from the All Kashmir Newspapers Society (AKNS) to discuss the financial challenges facing the local newspaper industry, particularly issues related to unpaid advertisement dues.

According to Press Information Department – Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the meeting was led by AKNS President Amjad Chaudhry and included key figures such as General Secretary Zaheer Jagwal, former President of the Central Press Club Syed Afaq Shah, and senior journalist Sardar Zulfiqar. They highlighted the impact of rising inflation on the newspaper sector and urged the Prime Minister to ensure the payment of advertisement arrears by June 30 to aid the industry’s development.

Prime Minister Haq reassured the delegation of his commitment to resolve their concerns promptly, in collaboration with the Minister of Information. He emphasized that the government recognizes the essential role of the press in society and is prioritizing the resolution of their financial issues. The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of adhering to the code of conduct within the newspaper industry and encouraged the exploration of revenue through both government and private sector advertisements to sustain the industry’s operations.
