Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chairs Meeting on Inland Revenue Targets

Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar Haq chaired a significant meeting of the Inland Revenue Department, focusing on tax collection, achievement of targets, and departmental reforms.

According to the Press Information Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the meeting featured detailed briefings by the commissioners of the Inland Revenue Department on taxes, target achievements, and related matters. Government Ministers Abdul Majid Khan, Chaudhry Akbar Ibrahim, Inland Revenue Secretary Sardar Zafar Khan, as well as commissioners, deputy commissioners, and Inland Revenue Officers were in attendance.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar Haq emphasized the importance of conscientiously achieving tax targets. He announced that the Inland Revenue Department would initiate a comprehensive reform process to enhance the performance of its officers and staff. The Prime Minister expressed his intent to utilize revenues from tourism, hydel power, and inland revenue for the development of health, education, and roads in Azad Kashmir.

He directed Inland Revenue officers to take all necessary measures to increase the number of tax filers and enhance the department’s efficiency to meet tax targets. The Inland Revenue Secretary, in his briefing, reported that taxes amounting to Rs. 19 billion 54 crores have been collected in the current fiscal year up to October, achieving the total tax target for the first quarter.

The meeting underscored the Prime Minister’s commitment to improving the revenue collection system in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and highlighted the government’s focus on utilizing these resources for the betterment of key public sectors.
