Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Criticizes India’s Actions on Fifth Anniversary of Kashmir’s Status Change

Islamabad: On the fifth anniversary of India’s revocation of Article 370, Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry condemned the ongoing situation in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He addressed the media in a video message from Kashmir House Islamabad, reflecting on the increased hardships faced by the Kashmiri people since the constitutional change on August 5, 2019.

According to President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry emphasized the resilience of the Kashmiri people amidst what he described as Indian state terrorism and the illegal occupation of their territory. He highlighted the peaceful nature of the Kashmiri freedom movement and reiterated the demand for self-determination based on United Nations resolutions.

Chaudhry criticized the Indian government’s attempt to hold elections in the region, declaring such actions as unacceptable without granting the right to self-determination. He warned against any partition plans and called for global attention to the oppression in Kashmir and the broader persecution of minorities in India. The President also praised the international response, including comments from the Canadian Prime Minister, which he said had exposed India’s actions on a global stage.

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir leader vowed to continue advocating for the Kashmiri cause until the region is liberated from what he termed as oppressive Indian rule. He urged the international community and all parties concerned to unite in support of the Kashmiri people’s struggle for independence and self-determination.
