Lahore: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has called on the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) to create a structured mechanism for the welfare of journalists. Tarar emphasized the importance of addressing the absence of a support system for journalists, including a compensation package for those who lose their lives while performing their duties.
According to Radio Pakistan, the minister highlighted in a post on X that while TV channels benefit from government and private-sector advertisements and generate additional revenue through digital platforms, there remains a lack of a dedicated fund for the welfare of journalists. He urged the PBA to take proactive steps to remedy this situation and ensure that journalists receive the necessary support and recognition for their work.
