Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has issued a strong condemnation following an attack on former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and a vehicle belonging to the Pakistan High Commission in London. The minister has called for immediate actions to identify and prosecute those responsible for the incident, which has raised significant concerns about the safety of Pakistani officials abroad.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Naqvi has mandated the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to expedite the process of identifying the attackers through available video footage. He has stated that legal actions, including the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) in Pakistan, will be initiated against the perpetrators. Measures such as blocking identity cards and canceling passports are also being considered to ensure accountability.
The minister highlighted that the attack will not go unnoticed and that immediate action is being taken to revoke the citizenship of those involved. The proposal for revoking citizenship will be presented to the cabinet for approval. Naqvi has stressed that the Pakistani government will not tolerate such acts of violence, emphasizing the seriousness of the attack on the High Commission’s vehicle.
Furthermore, Naqvi expressed concern over the lack of security provided to Qazi Faez Isa despite known threats, questioning the adequacy of measures in place to protect the former Chief Justice during his time in London.
