Asta Muhammad: In response to local water scarcity, Exein Public Health Engineer Asta Muhammad Ahsan Bashir has launched efforts to enhance the reliability of clean drinking water delivery in the region. This initiative comes amid challenges due to fluctuating water levels in local reservoirs, specifically within the water supply schemes of Tehsil Asta Muhammad.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the project, driven by the special instructions of Provincial Health Minister Sardarzada Faisal Khan Jamali and supported by Deputy Commissioner Jalil Ahmed and Mayor Muzaffar Khan Jamali, has successfully begun delivering clean water to citizens after refilling the Phase One and Phase Two ponds of the local water supply schemes. Engineer Bashir noted that approximately two months of water has been stored under the Phase One scheme, with ongoing efforts to continue filling these ponds. However, Phase Two faces challenges with water logging in the Damb Branch, limiting storage capacity.
Further enhancements are underway for the water supply scheme in Tehsil Gandakha, with ongoing cleaning and repairs funded by allocations from Minister Jamali’s PSDP funds. Tenders for these works have been issued, with expectations to complete the work within 15 to 20 days, facilitating additional water storage.
Engineer Bashir expressed optimism about restoring full functionality to the water supply systems and reiterated the commitment of his team, despite limited resources, to ensuring sustainable water access for the local population.
