ISLAMABAD, Mr. Danish A. Lakhani, Chairman of the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) Foundation, and Mr. Paul Wilson, Director General of APNIC, convened with Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, Chairman Senate of Pakistan, at the Parliament House today. The focal point of their discussion was the advancement of internet connectivity in Pakistan and the larger Asia Pacific landscape.
According to the Senate of Pakistan, the dialogue shed light on the significance of extending internet connectivity, especially to Pakistan’s remote regions, with a particular emphasis on Balochistan. Chairman Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, highlighted the role of robust IT infrastructure in driving the nation forward. He emphasized the importance of arming the younger generation with IT competencies, viewing it as pivotal for sparking innovation and propelling economic expansion.
Sanjrani further asserted that in the context of today’s economies, connectivity stands as a non-negotiable component, catalyzing socio-economic growth and community empowerment. He lauded APNIC’s unwavering dedication to bolstering connectivity within Pakistan and its endeavours to bridge the digital gap.
Taking the conversation a step further, the Chairman Senate shared that Pakistan is on the cusp of launching its 5G Spectrum, voicing optimism about its potential to spur vital economic activity in the country.
Expressing appreciation for the fruitful discourse, Mr. Lakhani and Mr. Wilson reaffirmed APNIC’s allegiance to fostering internet connectivity and development in the Asia Pacific. They assured the Chairman Senate of APNIC’s continuous collaboration with the Government of Pakistan to realize these goals.
